About the Artwork

Michele Lambert’s acclaimed painting, “I Cry for My City Today,” is a collage of imagery depicting the struggle of the New Orleans local people to survive during Hurricane Katrina.

“In the beginning I was in survivor mode. I find it hard not to cry every day because now I know how much has been lost and how few people really get it.” - Michele Lambert, 2006
